{"id":2777,"date":"2021-10-18T11:34:04","date_gmt":"2021-10-18T11:34:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/?p=2777"},"modified":"2021-10-18T19:15:07","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T19:15:07","slug":"improvements-user-interfaces-claimmaster-2021-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/improvements-user-interfaces-claimmaster-2021-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Improvements to User Interfaces"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In this release, we&#8217;ve made several changes to the ClaimMaster user interfaces to deal with changes in Microsoft Office and also make using ClaimMaster easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-updated-image-preview-panes\">Updated image preview panes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft recently discovered a vulnerability in some of its ActiveX controls, which prompted a recommendation to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/enable-or-disable-activex-settings-in-office-files-f1303e08-a3f8-41c5-a17e-b0b8898743ed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disable ActiveX controls<\/a> in Office applications. When these controls are blocked by a security policy,  you may see compile errors when trying to use certain ClaimMaster features that relied on the Microsoft web browser control for viewing PDF images, such as figure proofreading, IDS generation, OA analysis, and shell\/form generation. To deal with this, we have completely redesigned the preview panes in ClaimMaster and no longer use any problematic Microsoft controls in our software. Truth be told, Microsoft&#8217;s web browser control has been a pain to deal with recently due to incompatibility with 3rd party PDF add-ins and other issues, so we are glad to see it go. Plus, the redesigned pre-view panes load much faster, will ensure Windows 11 compatibility, do not depend on any other 3rd party applications, such as Adobe or Foxit, and have a cool click-to-magnify feature (see user interface screenshot below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/zoom.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"555\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/zoom-1024x555.png\" alt=\"updated image preview\" class=\"wp-image-2857\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/zoom-1024x555.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/zoom-300x163.png 300w, https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/zoom-768x416.png 768w, https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/zoom-600x325.png 600w, https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/zoom.png 1115w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<br>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reorganized-claimmaster-ribbon\">Reorganized ClaimMaster ribbon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s been a while since we&#8217;ve made any changes to the ClaimMaster ribbon user interface, although we&#8217;ve been continuously adding new features.  As a result, it was time for a small cleanup to make finding various ClaimMaster tools more intuitive and also free up space for the upcoming features.  Here are the details of the changes in the updated ribbon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/new_ribbon.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"852\" height=\"126\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/new_ribbon.png\" alt=\"new ClaimMaster ribbon\" class=\"wp-image-2763\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/new_ribbon.png 852w, https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/new_ribbon-300x44.png 300w, https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/new_ribbon-768x114.png 768w, https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/new_ribbon-600x89.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 852px) 100vw, 852px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Added <strong>Navigation Tools <\/strong>section that includes <strong>Document Map<\/strong> and various <strong>Claim Tree<\/strong> tools<\/li><li>Reorganized the <strong>Individual Proofing Tools <\/strong>menu to include O<strong>A Header Check <\/strong>and <strong>Post-Grant Check<\/strong> tools<\/li><li>Added <strong>Patent Drafting Tools<\/strong> subsection to the <strong>Time-Saving Tools<\/strong> menu.  This subsection now includes tools for generation flowcharts, Summary, and Brief Description of Figures section.  We&#8217;ll be adding more tools soon.<\/li><li>Moved <strong>Patent Reader<\/strong> to the <strong>Downloading Tools<\/strong> menu.<\/li><li>Combined preferences, other miscellaneous tools, and help sections into a single <strong>Preferences, Extra Tools, and Help<\/strong> menu.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<br>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-resizing-of-reporting-windows\">Resizing of reporting windows<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the popular request, we&#8217;ve added the resizing capability to the reporting windows when they are undocked to the side of the Word document (i.e., in floating mode).    To resize, simply click and drag the hashed pattern in the right lower corner of the reporting window, as shown below. We&#8217;ve now added the ability to increase the text size for reporting windows to make reading a little easier.  To set the preferred text size for the reporting windows, go to <strong>ClaimMaster-&gt;Preferences<\/strong> and then set the text size, as shown below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/font_size.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"447\" height=\"179\"
