{"id":4108,"date":"2023-04-18T17:00:17","date_gmt":"2023-04-18T17:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/?p=4108"},"modified":"2025-02-12T18:27:38","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T18:27:38","slug":"claimmaster-task-pane-issues-and-fixes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/claimmaster-task-pane-issues-and-fixes\/","title":{"rendered":"ClaimMaster Task Pane Issues and Fixes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patentclaimmaster.com\/blog\/reporting-improvements-claimmaster-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">latest release ClaimMaster 2023 <\/a>displays most reporting and drafting windows inside Word&#8217;s own <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/dev\/add-ins\/design\/task-pane-add-ins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">task pane<\/a>.  However, we have noticed a few occasional glitches for task panes that could happen on certain platforms\/versions of Office.  Here are the solutions to the common task pane issues with ClaimMaster:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-reporting-windows-are-not-placed-inside-word-s-task-pane\">1. Reporting windows are not placed inside Word&#8217;s task pane<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you notice that ClaimMaster reporting or drafting windows do not get placed inside Word&#8217;s task pane after you run ClaimMaster and instead show up over the top of the document, there is very quick fix.  This problem is uncommon but appears to happen primarily for 32-bit Office versions in some configurations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this is a problem for your Office configuration, please do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>1.  <\/strong>Exit Word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.  <\/strong>Download and run a tiny patch file (<strong>CM_TaskPane_Fixer.exe<\/strong>, 341KB). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-left is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fdcfc74e wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-fill\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-success-background-color has-background wp-element-button\"><strong>Download the fix<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. <\/strong> Run the patch, which re-registers one of the controls to fix the task pane initialization issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong>  Restart Word.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>If the problem continues, please contact <strong>support@claimmaster.com<\/strong>.  Please note that you can set the default position of reporting and drafting windows in ClaimMaster\u2019s preferences. Task pane shows up blank after running a report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ve noticed that on rare occasions, the task pane appears blank or doesn&#8217;t refresh after you&#8217;ve ran a report in ClaimMaster.
