GDPR has a several principles and requirements for the fair processing and protection of personal information. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that personal information is processed lawfully, with the knowledge or consent of the individuals involved, and protected against unauthorized use or access. ClaimMaster Software has fully embraced the GDPR for our customers who are regulated by the GDPR.<\/p>\n<p>Under the GDPR, when personal information is processed, there are two roles that need to be considered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_text_element\">\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>Data Controller<\/strong>\u00a0is the group or individual that decides what information will be collected and how it will be processed.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>Data Processor<\/strong>\u00a0is the group or individual that actually processes the information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a Word add-in, ClaimMaster executes locally on your computer within Microsoft Word and does not collect\/transmit patent proofreading documents, drafting content, or personal information from your computer, so it does not act as the Data Processor of your personal information.\u00a0 \u00a0Therefore, it is your responsibility to be GDPR compliant.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition, ClaimMaster also uses\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.softwarekey.com\/solo\/customers\/Default.aspx\">Softwarekey\u2019s Solo Server<\/a>\u00a0as the central licensing database and license management system for its customers.\u00a0 When you purchase a license and enter your personal\/company information in the Softwarekey\u2019s license portal, SoftwareKey is \u200ba Data Processor and you are a Data Controller under the GDPR. ClaimMaster (using Softwarekey\u2019s Solo Server system) may only process personal information based on your direction. Even though Softwarekey stores information on your behalf, you are still the Data Controller.
