Ask a question:

Why can't I preview front pages of patents in IDS Browser?

Solution To preview front pages of EPO documents:

Make sure that your Adobe Acrobat/Reader is set to "Display PDFs in browser" by enabling the approriate checkbox in Adobe's preferences (by default, it should be on already.) You can get to that option through "Preferences->Internet" in Adobe Acrobat/Reader.

If PDFs are still not being shown inside the IDS Creator or a new Acrobat/Reader opens up instead of the image being shown inside the IDS Creator, you can to do the following steps:

      1. In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose Edit | Preferences | Internet Deselect Display PDF in Browser, click OK and close Adobe

      2. In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose Edit | Preferences | Internet again

      3. Select Display PDF in Browser, click OK and close Adobe

To preview front pages of USPTO documents:

Register AlternaTIFF, which is a free IE plug-in that the USPTO makes available for viewing patent images from their website. (Tip: you can type in essentially anything into the registration dialog - it does not check for validity of the typed data). You can get AlternaTIFF from here
