Changing figure/part numbers in the drawings 


ClaimMaster can quickly change figure numbers and associated part numbers in the Drawings. All associated part #s for the figures can be changed, as long as they begin with the same number as the figure (e.g., Figure 2 and associated parts 2XX). This operation may be helpful if you need to reuse a previous figure but with a different number.


To change figure and associated part numbers in the drawings, perform the following steps:



Getting Started

  • From the ClaimMaster Ribbon, click on the Patent Drafting Tools menu, then select Change Figure and Part Numbers in the Drawings:





Feature Options

Once you select the feature from the menu above, the Figure/part renumbering window will come up. The following operations are available for this feature:



    1. This field/button lets you specify the file containing the figures. The file must be in Visio, PPT, or Word format.  PDF files can be converted to Word format (with some tweaking) using Word own "Import from PDF" feature.  Once you select the file, ClaimMaster will break it up into individual pages/slides and show you the preview of each page.


    1. This table shows all individual pages/slides extracted from the specified.  Click on any one of the available pages to see its preview.  


    1. Shows the preview of the selected page in the drawings file. 


    1. Use this field to specify the new figure number for the selected page.


    1. Press this button to generate the new figure based on the selected page.  All part numbers in the new figure will be renumbered based on the selected figure number.  All associated part #s for the figures in the specified range can be changed, as long as they begin with the same number as the figure. For example, the original Figure 2 and associated parts 2XX will be changed to Figure 5 and 5xx when you change figure # to 5.
