Generating application shell document


ClaimMaster lets you create an application shell document generated from one of the pre-defined application shell templates. These templates can also include replacement fields that can be filled out by ClaimMaster's various patent drafting tools.  To open a shell application document, perform the following steps:



Getting Started

  • From the ClaimMaster Ribbon, click on the Patent Drafting Tools menu, then select Generate Application Shell:





Feature Options

Once you select the feature from the menu above, the patent drafting window will come up. The following operations are available for this feature:




    1. This table lets you select one application shell to generate (you can't select multiple documents at once).  You can configure your list of document shells in Document shell preferences.
      1. Application/document shell is just a standard Word template (dotx) that can include the desired formatting, boilerplate language, and also the following optional replacement fields/sections to be filled out by ClaimMaster's various patent drafting tools:
        • [SUMMARY] - a placeholder for the Summary section that can be filled out with the Summary generation tool.
        • [BRIEF_FIGURES_DESC] - a placeholder for the Brief Description of Figures section that can be filled out with the Figures + descriptions generation tool.
        • [FIGURES_DESC]  - a placeholder for the figure descriptions section of the Specification that can be filled out with the Figures + descriptions generation tool.
        • [FLOWCHARTS_DESC] - a placeholder for the flowchart descriptions section of the Specification that can be filled out with the Flowcharts + descriptions generation tool.
        • [ORIGINAL_CLAIMS] -  a placeholder for original claims (if using another document as the claim source).
        • [CLONED_CLAIMS] -  a placeholder for the cloned claims section that can be filled out with the claim cloning tool.
        • [ABSTRACT] -  a placeholder for the Abstract that can be filled out with the Abstract generation tool.


    1. If this checkbox is selected, claims from the currently opened document will be copied to the new document shell, including all formatting. In addition, the claim cloning tool will be opened as well.
    2. Press this button to generate a new application shell document.
