Upcoming ClaimMaster Release (2024.5)

The upcoming ClaimMaster release will add new features and improvements to our patent application drafting tools, patent proofreading tools, IDS forms generation and other automation tools.

Patent Drafting Improvements

One major addition to GenAI-enabled patent drafting tools will allow you to use your own documents to improve GenAI output. ClaimMaster will utilize a local database of text snippets from selected documents to perform Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) when generating output text based on your LLM prompts.  With RAG, when you send any query to GPT/LLM, ClaimMaster will first perform a semantic search of the local database that contains sections of your documents to find the most conceptually similar text snippets for your prompt and will then add those samples to the final prompt to LLM source. This approach dramatically reduces LLM “hallucinations” and improves the factual and stylistic quality of the output from the off-the-shelf AI models that will now reflect your preferred content and style.

As part of setting up RAG, you will be able to specify various local “document workspaces” referencing specific documents/directories, so that that GPT/LLM prompts for different clients or technologies could be evaluated in their unique context by LLMs:

Another useful feature in the upcoming release will allow you to simultaneously send multiple figures to GPT models with vision capabilities. For example, you’ll be able to ask GPT to generate descriptions of multiple figures with a single prompt.

Patent Proofreading Improvements

The upcoming release will also have many improvement to the core antecedent basis and part #/name checking tools, among other proofreading improvements. First, we’ve added a new language processing engine that further improves detection of missing antecedent basis and reduces false positives. We’ve also improved user interface for editing AB rules. For reference part # checking, we’ve added the ability to create exclude lists for reference names and numbers to reduce false positives. Finally, we’ve completely redesigned our PDF reports, which ClaimMaster will now generate several times faster. The new PDF reports also include better layout and visual error reporting. Here’s a sample of the new PDF report.

IDS Generation/Tracking Improvements

Based on a popular demand, we are adding the capability to create and track IDS citations for the related applications using citation groups. Such IDS citation groups could be quickly created for applications that belong to the same patent family or relate to each by subject matter or other criteria. We are also adding the ability to track and compare IDS citations across citation groups or against other IDS forms, directories, patent pubs, cut & pasted text lists, etc. Finally, we are adding the ability to import NPL citations from the existing SB08 forms in PDF format.

Other Improvements

The upcoming release will also include many other improvements to Office Action Shell/Forms and other tools. For example, you’ll be able to automatically remove unused sections from Office Action shells and download text copies of cited prior art when analyzing Office Actions. This release also include a number of fixes to patent family tree generator and many other small improvements.
