ClaimMaster includes patent application drafting tools (+Drafting version) that let you generate textual figure description blocks with adjusted part numbers from a preconfigured set of templates. This feature is particularly helpful if you need to generate figure description sections for the Specification without generating corresponding figures and allows you to build up your figure descriptions from multiple sub-sections. All part numbers in the generated text blocks (including rich text annotations, variables, and other fields) will be adjusted according to the specified figure number.
To generate figures and their descriptions, follow these steps:
- Open figure descriptions block menu
From the ClaimMaster tab, click on the Patent Drafting Tools menu, then click on Generate Description Blocks:
- Select a figure description block to insert
In the window that comes up, you’ll be able to select a figure description block for generation from the list of available templates. Use the filter field to limit the list shown in the table below to only to those templates that at least partially match the filter. In addition, specify the figure # for the block. When you change this number, part numbers will be adjusted to match the specified figure # in the text preview window. - Insert figure descriptions into the document
Once you are satisfied with the preview of the selected figures and their description blocks, proceed to insert figure descriptions into the document. You’ll do this by clicking the Insert block into document button.
Please note that the generate textual descriptions can also include various annotations, rich text, graphics, and variables/dropdowns. For more information on how to configure such templates, please click here.
